Boren Announces $325,000 Affordable Housing Grant To Little Dixie Community Action Agency
WASHINGTON D.C. – June 30, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Congressman Dan Boren announced today the award of a $325,000 “Rehabilitation of Affordable Housing” grant to Little Dixie Community Action Agency in Hugo, Ok.
Little Dixie is one of 117 community-based “NeighborWorks America” organizations across the nation who are receiving $35 million in federal funding to rehabilitate or finance the rehabilitation of affordable housing nationwide. Little Dixie plans to utilize the grant to fund the rehabilitation of multi-family housing units in Choctaw, Pushmataha, and McCurtain Counties.
“These resources will go a long way toward improving quality, affordable housing in southeastern Oklahoma. Little Dixie has touched the lives of many families in its five county area through the success of its affordable housing programs. This project is yet another example of their hard work and dedication to community improvement. I look forward to working with them in the future to continue bringing these critical resources to the Second Congressional District,” said Boren.
“Little Dixie is pleased to receive this award from NeighborWorks. They are a very good source of funds for our agency,” said Becky Reynolds. “This money will help with our multi-family division and we will be able to provide rehabilitation, as well as energy efficiency improvements that will bring cost savings to the families occupying these units.”
The funding for these grants was provided through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2010 (P.L. 111-117), signed into law on December 16, 2009. Just six months after the funds were appropriated; communities across our country will be able to put them to immediate use. The grantees are required to utilize this funding for the rehabilitation, or the financing of the rehabilitation, of affordable housing units only.
